75% of KSJC Runners Set Personal Records at PSAL 3

unnamed

The KSJC Cross Country Teams competed at their 3rd PSAL Meet Tuesday night.  All four teams had incredible success at the meet, with Girls Varsity finishing in 2nd place, Boys Varsity finishing in 4th via tiebreaker, and both the Boys and Girls JV Teams finishing in 2nd place.

Girls JV competed as a team for the first time this season.  Captains Kaylan Ngo and Karla Salinas.  Kaylan Ngo, Sharon Tran, Ashley Melgar, and Laysha Alvarado all set personal records to help propel the team to 2nd place!  In the boys race, Jose Ibarra, Jose Romero, and Alex Pham led the way, with all three runners placing in the top 11.  Strong performances from Carlos Alvarez and Elijah Hernandez rounded out the scoring for KSJC.  Daniel Le, Andy Vo, and Jose Luis Perez all set personal bests.  The Boys JV placed 2nd, only behind Nueva.

The Girls Varsity Team stepped up big in the absence of senior captain Diana Moreno.  Marlen De La Cruz posted a blistering time and finished 5th overall.  Liliana Sarai Mireles debuted for the purple and white today, finishing in 11th place overall.  Jennifer Ortega, Viviana Moreno, Jennifer Granados, and Jo Canales all turned in personal bests to solidify KSJC’s 2nd place standing in league.

Finally, every runner on the Boys Varsity Team set their personal record today on the Crystal Springs course.  Josue Martinez Vega was able to break 19 minutes today.  Andre Pham broke the 20 minute barrier, a long time goal of his.  The team as a whole finished with an average time over 45 seconds below their time from the previous meet.  Although they tied with Design Tech on points for 3rd place today, the tiebreaker went to Design Tech.  Either way, the Boys did an amazing job, and it looks like they’re starting to hit their stride.  The teams take to the course again next Tuesday, October 17th for the final regular season PSAL meet.  Wish them luck!  Go Wolfpack!
