Yesterday, the KSJC Cross Country Team took to the Crystal Springs Course in their first PSAL League Meet.  All three teams found a great deal of success going up against their fellow PSAL competition.

Up first, the Boys and Girls JV teams race began right at 3:30 PM. Luis Gutierrez put up he best time so far on a 3 mile course, finishing in 21:30.  Kyle Kinard, Jose Romero, Alan Casorla, and Sebastian Munoz all came in under 22:30 to put forth a strong showing for the JV Boys Race.  The entire Girls JV Team hit their personal records on the course, led by Jennifer Granados finishing in under 28 minutes.  At the end of the day, the team finished in 2nd Place for the JV Boys Race!

At 4:00 PM, the Girls Varsity Team hit the track and finished with their best place in a league meet in school history.  Diana Moreno and Marlen De La Cruz started the team off on the right foot, both finishing in the top ten.  Jennifer Ortega and Viviana Moreno worked together well on the course to finish in the top 20.  Joanna Canales, Sahira Madera, and Kaylan Ngo also turned in strong performances for the Wolfpack, as the girls started of PSAL play in 2nd place, only behind last year’s CIF California State Division 5 Champions, The Nueva School.

Lastly, at 4:30, Boys Varsity took to the track against a stacked field.  Cristian Becerra led the way, finishing the 2.95 mile course in 19:19 and placing 12th out of 86 runners.  Josue Martinez Vega pushed through an injury to finish 27th, with Andre Pham right behind him in 29th.  Alex Pham turned in his personal best on the Crystal Springs Course to finish in 37th and freshman Kai Oda cross the finish line soon after in 39th to round out the scoring.  Jose Ibarra and Aabid Ali also turned in great performances for the team, who finished in 5th place out of 12 which would put them in a place for qualification into CCS Sectionals.

The team takes to the course again on 9/27, hoping to improve on their run from Tuesday.  Go Wolfpack!
