Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · KSJC’s August/September Student-Athlete of the Month – Diana Moreno

Congratulations to Senior Cross Country Runner Diana Moreno for being selected as the KSJC August/September Student-Athlete of the Month.  Diana has done an amazing job as the captain of the Girls Cross Country Team this year, and has led her team to 2nd place in the PSAL standings, behind only the reigning D5 State Champions, the Nueva School.  Here’s what her coach had to say about her:

“Diana is the leader of the girls team that is trying to light the KSJC record books on fire.  The team feeds off her drive and leadership.  She consistently pushes herself and those around her to do better each and every time.  At the San Benito Dry River Run, she placed 4th overall. She finished in the top 55 runners at the Earlybird Invitational against some of the top runners in the state, and she led the girls team to a 2nd place finish in our first and second league meets with an individual 6th place finish.  She’s going to be the runner to watch as the season progresses!” – Coach McCormack

We asked Diana to reflect on her season thus far:

Q – What is going well for you individually this season? Why?

A – “For me individually, I have cut down my time by a minute, since last season because my goal has been to keep on improving and this shows that my hard work has finally paid off. Also, I have been able to make top ten and this is a huge success because without my team I know I would not have been able to make it. Everyday in practice my team pushes me past my limits and makes me realize that I am capable of reaching my goals like making it to CCS with my team.” – Diana

Q – What is going well for your team this season? Why?

A – “This season I have seen that I have a supportive team, even though we do not always get the results we want we still are supportive and continue encouraging one another. Compared to last year, we have been able to get more freshmen to join and this has made the team bigger and stronger. The girl’s varsity has been able to move up three spots from last year and now we are in second place. Hopefully we can stay in second place and keep on improving from there.” – Diana

Congrats, Diana!  Good luck the rest of the season!  Go Wolfpack!
