It was a great month for KSJC Athletics. Please read about the nominees for KSJC’s Student-Athlete of the Month for October and then vote below! Polls close at noon on Friday.
Jeanne Huynh (Volleyball) – “Starting as only a sophomore on the varsity side, Jeanne is the nominee for Student-Athlete of the Month. Jeanne made her varsity debut in a new position, and as a setter she led the offense through each win, while helping to keep up the fight when we were down. She is one of the league leaders in aces, is an aggressive and smart setter, and in our rotation has established a dominant role as a back-row hitter. Jeanne will likely lead the varsity team to two more successful years, thanks to all the hard work she has put in.” – Coach Monagle
Josue Martinez Vega (Boys Cross Country) – “Josue is doing some incredible things as a freshman. He has already set the 4th fastest time in program history at 18:51 at PSAL 3. He is the pace setter for the team, consistently finishing in the top 13 in the last few meets. Josue is a big reason the team is in position to match it’s highest ranking in school history with a strong finals performance. It’ll be exciting to see what happens!” – Coach McCormack
Marlen De La Cruz (Girls Cross Country) – “Marlen stepped up in a big way while top runner, Diana Moreno, was out. She has been the pace setter on the team, and in the last meet, posted a time of 21:32 for 2.95 miles. That time is only 2 seconds off the KSJC record set by Diana Gomez back in 2013, and she’s only a sophomore. She has been absolutely incredible for the team.” – Coach McCormack
